Le dodici chitarre 'spostate . . . (1643)
I. Overview
Several early guitar books such as this one experiment with transposing pieces into all 12 major or minor keys. The ability to notate music in a variety of keys was made possible in large part by the exclusively chordal style of the music and the alfabeto system itself. Such experiments were rarely carried to the extreme they are in this book. There is also a wide variety of genres and interesting pieces, some unique to Carbonchi.
